Berry Vanilla Power Shake

I gave myself this treat after Zumba yesterday and it was definitely a great reward after my workout. I wanted to try making a smoothie with my new immersion blender and I can’t recommend that kitchen tool enough – it blends things so quickly and easily with so little cleanup! I decided to put a protein shake together with ingredients I already had and this is what I came up with. I love Edy’s Slow Churned No Sugar Added Vanilla Ice Cream. It’s really diet-friendly, flavorful and versatile – I get creative with it a lot. This was a really delicious and creamy thick shake and it was very filling after my workout. I will make this again!

Berry Vanilla Power Shake

Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup Edy’s Slow Churned No Sugar Added Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1 cup berries, frozen or fresh (I actually had about ½ c fresh blueberries in my fridge, so I used those and ½ c frozen mixed berries)
  • ½ cup skim milk
  • Optional: 1 scoop vanilla flavored whey protein powder (I used Biggest Loser Designer Whey)

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender OR into the mixing cup for an immersion blender and blend.
  2. Pour into a glass and drink up!

MyWW SmartPoints per serving: (SP calculated using the recipe builder on weightwatchers.com)

Green: 12 SmartPoints/ Blue: 12 SmartPoints/ Purple: 12 SmartPoints

*Weight Watchers Points Plus:
4 per serving, 3 without protein powder* (P+ calculated using the recipe builder on weightwatchers.com)

*Since the fruit in this recipe is not cooked or modified in any way beyond being blended, I calculated the PointsPlus a little differently than I do my other recipes. For shakes/smoothies I’ve been told that the majority of people count the ingredients separately rather than using the WW recipe builder and having to account for the fruit’s nutrition information. If you calculate these as a recipe, the shake is 7 or 5 pts+ respectively.
