If I were to serve these at a party I would get a vase and a block of that green Styrofoam that florists use and put it inside. Once the pizza buns were skewered it’d make it easier to arrange them in a vase the way you want them. Then you have a beautiful pizza arrangement for your guests to grab from! I should have done that for my photos because I tried to put mine in a vase but getting any of them to face the same direction was an exercise in futility. If you don’t care about having them face the same way, just a vase should the do the trick. You might also like to serve them with a bowl of additional pizza sauce for dipping.
Pizza on a Stick
Source: adapted from Artisan Bread in FiveIngredients:
13.8 oz can of refrigerated pizza dough
½ c pizza sauce
1 ½ c shredded reduced fat 2% Mozzarella cheese
1 t Italian seasoning
17 turkey pepperoni (such as Hormel)
20 bamboo skewers (or other shish kabob skewers or popsicles sticks)
Directions:
1. Pre-heat the oven to 400. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Unroll the pizza dough and flatten into a large rectangle. Spread the pizza sauce evenly across the surface of the dough and then spread the cheese over it. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning over the pizza and follow with the pepperoni.
3. Starting with the long side, roll the dough, with the toppings inside, until you reach the other end. Pinch the seam to seal. Cut the roll into 20 even pieces using kitchen shears. I cut the roll in half and then each of those pieces in half and then each of those into five to make it easier.
4. Place the pizza buns on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Let cool for 5 minutes. Stick a skewer into each bun.
Yields 20 pieces. Weight Watchers Points Plus: 2 per stick of pizza (two pizzas is 4 P+, four pizzas is 9 P+) (P+ calculated using the recipe builder on weightwatchers.com)

These look awesome and I can't wait to try these. I think I could be won over by a bouquet of pizza too!
ReplyDeleteRight? *Swoon*
ReplyDeleteOh. my. goodness - these were so good. I used the "thin crust" refrigerated pizza dough, and doubled the pepperoni, but left out the sticks. It meets the pizza craving in a fun package. We will definitely be making these again soon!
ReplyDeleteYay, glad you loved them! I definitely thought they were fun :)
ReplyDeleteI made these for a Christmas party on Saturday. They were a HUGE hit. So big that they were literally gone in 5 seconds! Guess next time I'll make double. HAHA.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy they were such a bit hit, Megan!
DeleteI am definitely going to try these next week. My grandchildren love the pizza rolls and pizza bites available in the store. I feel better when I know what's in the food. We also enjoy spending time in the kitchen. This sounds like a perfect recipe for us.
ReplyDeleteI hope these were a hit, Maryann!
DeleteDid you make them ahead of time and then refrigerate them? Did you serve them cold?
ReplyDeleteYou could serve them cold or warm. I ate them warm. If you serve them room temp or cold you may want to serve them with warm pizza sauce for dipping!
DeleteLove your new layout... I had a hard time saving recipes to Ziplist... much easier, or maybe it was just me...lol!!! LOVE YOUR STUFF, so much easier to eat better... You take all the hard work out of eating healthier and following an eating plan....
DeleteThank-You
Michelle
This is awesome and extremely kid friendly! My daughter eats everything cause I'm a foodie and do is she at 16 months and I love it! Made these for her and her cousins they are them all. And the parents didn't complain!
ReplyDeleteIs the 17 Turkey Pepperoni - 17 pieces or a weight or package size?
ReplyDeleteI may never buy another bagel bite again. I CANNOT wait to try this. Further, I am wondering if you can assemble, cut and freeze to have on hand for a future snack....
